ILS Openings

Independent Living Skills (ILS) is designed to help people with mental disabilities, mental health conditions, or chronic illnesses to gain independence and self -sufficiency within the community. ILS workers are caregivers that can teach individuals life skills, problem-solving, and coping skills to enrich the quality of life of individuals with disabilities to live independently in the community.

This may include but is not limited to: safety skills in the community and home, social skills enhancing relationships both personal and business, integrating into the community, assisting with paperwork, and appointments, finding and accessing community resources (food shelves, housing, employment, transportation), budgeting and financial management (bill paying, balancing accounts), household management (grocery shopping, meal planning/prep), and organizing (items, areas in home, paperwork).

ILS workers must be able to implement support plans created by the client’s teams, keep accurate documentation of services provided, and become familiar with 245D paperwork required by the State of Minnesota.

ILS workers must use their personal vehicle for transporting clients within the community. Most clients are ambulatory, few may use walkers/wheelchairs (must fit in the back seat). Mileage reimbursement is provided.

  • Must pass the Minnesota Department of Human Services Background Study
  • Valid Driver’s License, Full coverage insurance, Reliable vehicle
  • Willing to drive approximately 30 mile radius. Transporting clients into the community. Paid Mileage.
  • Must be very organized, detail-orientated, self-starter. Able to complete paperwork and follow instructions in a timely manner.
  • Must be computer literate, able to read and send emails from phone and computer. Able to use phone apps for mileage and time-keeping.
  • Possess problem-solving skills, able to multi-task, and follow through with all tasks given in required time and to completion.
  • Must have excellent work ethics. Must be trustworthy, reliable, and willing to work entire shifts, fulfilling all obligations.
  • Must be flexible and a team player. Willing to make changes in schedule to assist the Supervisor when asked.
  • Must have compassion and want to go above and beyond to help individuals with disabilities to improve the quality of their life through supporting, teaching, advocating, and making their needs a priority.
  • Able to articulate well with family members, county workers, professionals, and clients.

DSP Openings
The Direct Support Professional is in charge of several duties regarding the overall care of the individuals we serve. This includes direct care and implementation of individual plans (IP) and behavior plans (BP). Direct Support Professionals are responsible when it comes to performing all duties per the State of Minnesota regulations.

Direct Support Professional Responsibilities:

  • Establish a secure and positive environment that meets and nurtures our clients’ needs, self-expression, and goals.
  • Supervising individuals and taking care of their needs.
  • Performing light housekeeping duties.
  • Providing individualized training and care for individuals per a healthcare professionals’ instructions and guidelines.
  • Enhancing the individual’s decision-making, productivity, and participation in activities.
  • Encouraging the individual’s independence in daily activities.
  • Supervise the client’s inclusion in the community.
  • Maintaining knowledge of the individual’s needs and requirements.
  • Complying with Right Home Care Services, Inc.’s policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining documentation in compliance with company procedures.
  • Operating vehicles in compliance with Right Home Care Services, Inc.’s policies and governmental statutes.

Direct Support Professional Requirements:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent.
  • CPR and first aid certification.
  • Completion of provided training.
  • Completion of criminal background check and health screening.
  • 6+ months of social service or life experience with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Valid driver’s license, own reliable vehicle and good driving record.
  • Comfortable with assisting residents with hygiene and medical routines.
  • Availability to work shifts.
  • Outstanding organizational and people skills.
